In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, this program aims to foster support, increase leadership capacity, and deliver on-the-ground forest stewardship activities through collaboration in local communities. Most importantly, this program centers the voices, diverse needs, and unique perspectives of Tribes and underserved community groups. Since the collaborative capacity program is new to NFF and the U.S. Forest Service, a significant portion of my role is working with a 20-person Advisory Committee, Keystone Policy Center, and NFF colleagues to design, build, and implement this new program. The California Landscape Stewardship Network supports regional landscape collaboratives from across the state and represent many different geographies and partnership models. Developed, organized and led trail service opportunities for approximately 1,500 local youth, community, and corporate group members annually. Increased participation in trail-specific volunteer activities by 37% between FY2013 and FY2014.

Organized field-based restoration projects, including trail maintenance and habitat restoration. Worked closely with maintenance supervisor, vegetation ecologist, and surrounding land management organizations to design effective invasive species removal, trail maintenance, and rare plant monitoring projects in the Mt. Tamalpais region. Performed restoration activities with two person crew using a variety of tools such as: chainsaws, brush cutters, weed wrenches, and other hand tools.
