I loved computer programming in high school, so I embarked on learning more in college. Then I realized I need to make money, so I started a landscape design and construction company and followed that for 25 years. Through a friend I heard of a manufacturing company called Philips and started working there in production then quickly moved into the Quality Assurance department. I became fascinated with product improvement and process improvement, which led to the physics and statistical aspects of our product. That is when I decided to get formal training to become an engineer. Problem solving and my ability to quickly demonstrate to management root causes for common production floor issues, was my catalyst and confidence, that I could do much more if I had proper training.
