James Lamb is an experienced industrial designer, educator, and mentor. He currently works as the founding director of Lamb Industries, which provides innovative, successful design in a variety of sectors including professional equipment, medical, and consumer products. Recent projects include the industrial design for the Versius surgical robotic system for CMR Surgical, and the Red Dot award winning robot lawnmowers for Stiga. Lamb Industries work with large corporations and forward thinking companies of all sizes. James is a regular teacher and mentor at various universities. James is a former Visiting Professor in Innovation to Brunel University, and platform leader on the RCA Design Products course. He graduated with an Industrial Design degree from Brunel University in 1993 and went on to become one of the very first design engineers at Dyson Appliances. In 1997, motivated to apply his knowledge to a wider range of clients and projects, he joined Random Product Design and worked on products for British Telecom, GE and Lucent Technologies. In 1999 James was one of the founding directors of The Alloy, where he designed telephones for BT and Suncorp, fridges for Brandt group and firefighting equipment for Marconi and e2v technologies. His design for the Argus3 Thermal Imaging Camera won seven international design awards including IDSA Gold, and is also in the permanent collection of MoMA New York. Then in 2007 James co-founded The Product Works, and designed surgical instruments for DePuy (Johnson & Johnson), petrol nozzles and forecourts for BP, a supercomputer, film props for Steven Spielberg and future concepts for Gillette and P&G. Finally, in 2010 he founded Lamb Industries, where he has worked ever since.
