I am the fifth generation in my family to practice law in Maryland and am especially proud to be practicing law at the firm that my great-grandfather started over 100 years ago. I am a general business lawyer representing for-profit and non-profit enterprises. My emphasis is on small and mid-size business and the broad range of issues that a growing business and its owners and managers encounter, such as tax, contracts, mergers/acquisitions, human resources, finance, real estate and regulatory. Ancillary areas are estate planning, succession planning and governance for family businesses. In the non-profit area, my focus has long been on education and environmental matters, particularly land and historic preservation. My civic interests tend to focus on these types of concerns. Currently, I am chair of the Maryland Environmental Trust, a trustee and officer of the Maryland Historical Society and trustee of The Manor Conservancy and Notre Dame of Maryland University. Past associations have been as chairman of the Baltimore County Landmarks Preservation Commission and trustee of Preservation Maryland , the Manor Area Association, the Preservation Association and consulting committee of Ladew Topiary Gardens.
