While much has been published about the major players of the Civil Rights Movement, the Behind the Scenes of the Civil Rights Movements collection seeks to unearth and digitize archival histories related to everyday citizens, groups and organizations, and events that took place during the Movement. Among my many responsibilities as the administrator and curator of this collection, my primary responsibilities in include: + Overseeing critical aspects of building the Behind the Scenes collection such as sourcing archival material, defining the scope of the collection, and digitally curating archival material to be hosted open access on the JSTOR platform. + Work with a large group of sourcing institutions including academic institutions, public libraries, historical societies, museums, and community archives to gather information and historical documents about the Civil Rights era, commonly during the 1950s-1960s+ Promoting the Behind the Scenes collection through conferences and public speaking engagements within the archive and library community while creating marketing materials such as newsletters and email campaigns to increase program participation

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art inspires and enriches the Spelman College community and the general public, through art by and about women of the African Diaspora. I initially began working as the Graduate Research Assistant for the Museum while completing my Master's degree program at Clark Atlanta University and took on a temporary Curator position thereafter. + Assumed the position of curator for the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art and worked closely with Museum staff on exhibitions including Silver Linings (Spring 2022); Lava Thomas: Homecoming (Fall 2022); and summer installations + Contributed to the Museum's permanent collection research by composing curatorial justifications, writing wall text and long from object labels, and drafting grant applications for collection exhibitions+ Worked closely with students, faculty, and staff to promote and share exhibitions and public programming at the Museum through guided tours, social media public speaking engagements.

During the global pandemic, Stay Home Gallery, an art gallery and residency space, offered a curatorial fellowship for women to nurture their curatorial practice via online learning sessions. Upon completion of this program, I curated an online exhibition titled, Inward, which centered the work of artists who confront their beauty, identity, and personal struggles through portraiture. Some of the highlights from my residency include:+ Participation in a community of eight inaugural fellows selected to curate an online exhibition presented on the Stay Home Gallery website + Coordination of public program for exhibition in partnership with Studio Noize Podcast, a weekly art podcast featuring conversations with Black artists and creators around the world. + Engagement in bi-weekly virtual learning sessions related to key curatorial concepts

The Atlanta University Center Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective prepares undergraduate students for careers in the visual arts. Housed within the Department of Art & Visual Culture at Spelman College, this innovative program aims to shape the future of the art world and position the Atlanta University Center as the leading incubator of African American professionals in these fields. While serving in this role, I had the distinct pleasure working as a graduate assistant to the Program Director, Dr. Cheryl Finley, an esteemed art historian and arts professional. Under her leadership, I fulfilled the following responsibilities: + Co-authored research papers with Program Director and worked as a teaching assistant to AUC students + Delivered course lectures and assisted with syllabus and course design for Theory and Criticism in Exhibition Practice, Curatorial Practicum, and Finding Common Ground: Blockchain and Cultural Heritage Salon courses + Worked closely with AUC students as a mentor to guide them through the post-baccalaureate career search process and facilitated public programming to support their professional development

The Studio Museum in Harlem is the nexus for artists of African descent locally, nationally, and internationally and for work that has been inspired and influenced by Black culture. It is a site for the dynamic exchange of ideas about art and society. As an Andrew Mellon Curatorial Fellow, I worked closely with the Curatorial team on contemporary and 20th century exhibitions focused on living artists and permanent collection artworks. + Helped organize exhibitions at country’s leading museum for contemporary Black artists + Conducted object-based research and assisted with permanent collection management via The Museum System (TMS)+ Wrote didactic materials such as wall labels and conducted curatorial research for future exhibitions

Located in the heart of Atlanta, the High Museum of Art connects with audiences from across the Southeast and around the world through its distinguished collection, dynamic schedule of special exhibitions, and engaging community-focused programs. While working in the education department as the Youth and Family Programs Assistant, I had the pleasure of meeting families and children from various backgrounds. + Facilitated public learning programs such as Toddler Thursdays, Baby Book Club, and Second Sundays and served as a studio teaching assistant and maintained teaching artist schedule+ Supervised student interns and volunteers to prepare over 1,500 monthly supplies for the smARTbox program +Created programming flyers and exposed youth to permanent collection through museum activities
