Chief System Engineer/Ground Systems Manager
CurrentContract role on System Engineering Services (SES) 2 and SES-3 with ASRC Federal and MCSG Technologies. Led a team of fifteen system administrators and engineers that are responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Earth Science Mission Operations (ESMO) ground system. During this time transformed the team into one of the highest performing teams within ESMO by overhauling the team culture, processes, and methodologies. Utilized many aspects of the Toyota Production System (TPS), DevOps, and Agile to eliminate organizational deadlock, reduce dependencies, and implement fast feedback into the team’s work. This allowed for the completion of large projects such as the implementation of the PACE ground system for launch; SAN and hypervisor hardware refresh and migration; completion of an internal OS modernization initiative; and configuration management software and process overhaul. Advocated for and made recommendations for similar changes across the ESMO organization as a whole. Also responsible for common managerial tasks: interviews, hiring, tasking, interfacing with the government customer, procurement, budgeting, performance reviews, etc.
