HUSKY, SUPERIOR REFINERY REBUILD PROJECT, SUPERIOR, WISCONSIN, INTERFACE MANAGERThis is a fire-rebuild project of the Crude, FCC, OSBL units that were damaged in a fire in April 2018 estimated at approx. $740MM. Worley is providing engineering (all phases), procurement, and construction support. The prime objective of the project is to complete all necessary activities to bring as much of the plant up as possible as well as minor debottlenecking. As the interface manager, I was responsible for identifying, documenting, and ensuring all interfaces (hard and soft) between the Rebuild project and any other projects being executed at the site during this timeframe; thus, ensuring engineering quality. Over a dozen interfaces entities were identified with several hundred interface points and each was actively tracked and managed. Additionally, I launched an interface management software tool called Coreworx to manage the specific interfaces to ensure accountability among the various projects and provide auditability.

The objective of OASIS was to ensure that all process units at each site are compliant with the ANSI / ISA-84 standard (Functional Safety: Safety Instrumented Systems for the Process Industry Sector). I managed development and completion of Phase 2 and Phase 3 engineering deliverables for the Program (i.e. all seven sites), leading a team of senior process engineers, multi-discipline engineers, and estimators. Additional complexity was added when a select group of units at two different sites was pulled out of the Program and accelerated to meet the 2017 / 2018 turnarounds. I managed the “Accelerated” projects through Phases 4 and 5, meeting the permitting, internal client, and construction dates while maintaining budgets. Additionally, I ensured technical and commercial integrity in compliance with and adherence to the project scope, project specifications, accepted good engineering practices, and Chevron’s work processes, project schedule, and overall budgets. NOVUS, PROJECT NEWTON, GREEN LAKE, TXThe project consisted of three units – Alimet, HCN, and OSBL which Jacobs performed front end engineering services. I managed the Management of Change (MOC) process for the Alimet, HCN, and OSBL units. Over 5300 MOCs were identified post-HAZOP.
