👋 Hi there! I'm Jay Herbert, an experienced Electronics Technician and Manager with a passion for delivering top-notch customer support and leading successful teams. Currently, I'm proudly serving as an Electronics Technician and Manager at H&H TV and Electronics Repair, where I've honed my skills over 35 years in the industry. I have also been a Content Moderator for a discord server for the last 3 years.🛠️ My journey in electronics began in Chico, California, where I attended Butte County Regional Occupational Program and Butte College to specialize as an Electronics Technician. Under the mentorship of Ron Pope, my esteemed instructor, I developed a deep appreciation for the field. Obtaining my FCC license as an amateur radio operator further fueled my enthusiasm for all things electronic.🏆 During my college years, I actively engaged in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, earning accolades such as two gold medals at the state level and a silver medal nationally for electronic product servicing. This journey also led me to secure a $12,000 scholarship from the National Education Center and a coveted set of tools in a large briefcase. Additionally, my skills were recognized on an international stage with a 3rd place win at the IYSO International Youth Skills Olympics, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Company.🔧 Beyond accolades, my hands-on experience at Filco of Chico as an Electronics Technician provided invaluable opportunities to repair and install TVs and perform home stereo installations. It was more than just a job; it was a place where friendships flourished, and I developed lasting connections.🚀 Outside of work, I'm an avid fan of science fiction movies and enjoy channeling my creativity into building electronic projects.
