Through a first-of-its-kind partnership, CCS and CDL are accelerating innovations to improve the cancer experience globally, from prevention to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. I led the build and launch of a new stream, CDL Cancer, including the details of programming, the engagement of impactful stakeholders, and the recruitment of top-tier mentors and ventures.Over the two years of CDL Cancer, we supported 40 pre-seed and seed-stage ventures that had technologies that spanned the care continuum from early detection to novel therapeutic platforms to personalized treatment plan building to care delivery and patient management. We focused on ventures that were improving patient access, lowering the cost of care, and addressing critical unmet needs. The companies we supported project to reach millions of patients if they reach scale, and to touch more than a dozen major types of cancer.In my final cycle, I won recruiter of the year at CDL, an award that recognizes the individual in the whole network that made the greatest impact on finding great new ventures at CDL for their stream and for the network as a whole.

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a nonprofit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, science- and technology-based companies. I am responsible for managing a portfolio of pre-seed and seed-stage health startups enrolled in our business mentorship program. In my role, I coach founders through our intense and competitive program structuring. We work together to define and document their progress in product development, go-to-market strategy, and finances. I help facilitate the matching of our portfolio founders with relevant mentors, who may be experts in the field, successful serial entrepreneurs, VCs, and more.

In my second year at CDL, I managed a team of 6 analysts and site-wide recruitment tasks. I have responsibilities with cross-site communications and generating enough leads for each stream at CDL-Toronto.I also am taking on the role of co-recruitment lead for our AI and Prime streams, taking on responsibilities of finding, engaging and qualifying the best founders and companies for our new AI thesis. My responsibilities of outreach, relationship management, and application review are still held and executed.

At CDL, I helped to find the best possible companies for our upcoming cohort. This came in the form of lead generation and outreach, where I discovered and ranked leads using a variety of tools. I generated the most overall leads and high-quality leads of any team member in 2021. For outreach, I led calls with prospective founders and CEOs to discuss the program and assess their venture's fit.After the recruitment season ended, the program shifts to the active cycle where I managed relationships between founders and the program. My focus was in advanced materials startups, where I helped them capture relevant KPIs to demonstrate company growth. I supported the founders by providing feedback on strategic communication and program strategy.Furthermore, I prepared detailed company reports for the companies I managed, which summarized key technical and business aspects of the company. These reports were circulated among our mentor pool. Aside from the active day-to-day necessities of the program, I led a retrospective data collection and analysis project to evaluate our recruiting tactics and suggest improvements.Finally, I executed operational tasks and facilitated program sessions for CDL sites globally, as well as conducted 15+ application interviews, where I assessed companies for program alignment based on key success criteria.

As a senior professional, I was responsible for developing the lesson plans for the junior programs, as well as for all of the adult programming. I was leading the junior programs, responsible for coaching and managing the junior staff members and clinic participants. I was also now responsible for developing and executing on the lesson plans for adults, and was doing private lessons for members of the club.
