Primarily in an IT/Operations role where ensuring infrastructure and applications required for security analysts to perform there job is up and running. Work includes writing or updating Python scripts that bring different security tools together and documenting procedures that I go through. Currently my primary role is lead on upgrading our Atlassian software stack. This includes deploying Ubuntu with LDAP, PostgreSQL with streaming replication and nightly backups, testing upgrade paths in isolated environments, configuring a reverse proxy and SSL, and all the little things that go along like digging through logs and contacting support. This work is also a continuation of the anthropology/cyber-security research that I am a part of through KSU.

Primary role is to become a member of a security operations center where I help by using my skills the best I can and try to observe issues faced by analysts. In this role, I've developed various Python tools, such as one to parse Cisco ASA configuration files so they can be queried for subnets and object groups. Another one was to help automate the blocking of MAC addresses of hosts determined to be Windows XP and using available data sources to determine what network device they need to be blocked on. I did major development on a tool that aggregates data from firewall NAT logs, DHCP logs, ARP dumps, and eID information and inserts it into MongoDB at thousands of logs per second. This also included a web interface written with jQuery, Backbone, and Marionette to query the data to find compromised hosts on our internal network when reports from outside our network are received. Other tasks included tuning networking in Linux, from the NIC ring buffer to kernel buffers to Rsyslog, among others. Also setting up Fibre Channel for long term log archiving. Docker was also used extensively to simplify the deployment of updated code.

Provided help to students during labs for CIS300, or Algorithms and Data Structures. Also held office hours where students could come in and I worked with them on projects and past labs.
