About James Carter

CURATION & PROGRAMMINGI grew up in the theater. Live performance and curating drive me. From my immersive site-specific work to late-night shows and private parties, I share experiences that tap into joy and wonder. I've got an eye for the unusual. Fire-eaters, interactive mobile storytelling apps, scavenger hunts, contemporary circus, large-scale spectacle, and digital art find their way into my work. Notable artists include 600 HIGHWAYMEN, ADG7, Acrobuffos, Alsarah and the Nubatones, Cirque Alfonse, Erin Markey, Falu’s Bazaar, Flaco Navaja, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Jazzmeia Horn, Juan Martinez, Julia May Jonas, Kate McIntosh, LADAMA, Mary Mattingly, Melissa Etheridge, Natu Camara, Polyglot Theatre, Pneuhaus, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Reggie Watts, Sona Jobarteh, Scott Silven, Tank and the Bangas, Taylor Mac, Theater in Quarantine, The Bengsons, W. Kamau Bell, and Wolf 359.SOCIAL IMPACTI envision a more unified world. Access and inclusion are no longer issues. Disabilities, ethnicities, and beliefs do not separate us. They thrill us. Differences spur us to ask questions and understand our shared humanity holistically and lovingly. Wisdom and generosity replace misunderstanding and greed. I attempt to lift up people from all walks and inspire the next generation of artists and patrons to view the world through a lens that embraces and stimulates humankind. I meet the audience where they are and bring life-altering art to their doorsteps.
