Other primary responsbilities included developing MySQL Stored Procedures for interaction, via Windows MySQL libraries, between the Database Interface software and the MySQL databases located at the local data center utilizing the Ubuntu (Linux) platform. Primary areas of responsibility included developing the Gateway Software Development Kit (SDK) and the ISP-level ThreatStream application software utilizing the UNIX/Linux platforms, the C++ software language, and the Configuration Versioning System (CVS). Secondary responsbilities included developing the Desktop SDK software utilizing the Windows platform and Microsoft Visual Studio 6 and the Visual C++ 6.0 language. Rewrote the Gateway SDK security software tree for embedded systems so that it compiled on the Linux, FreeBSD, and Windows platforms after the SDK "re-factoring" effort caused the SDK to compile in Windows only. Modified the Gateway SDK software to be thread-safe (mutex locking) due to customer requests/concerns and for future applicability. Added multi-threaded capability (via pthreads) to the Gateway SDK’s application programming interface (API) to allow for multiple, different, simultaneous scans. Developed a test harness in support of thread/stream/scan testing. Generated and utilized Visual Build scripts and InstallShield setup scripts to build, configuration manage (CM), and release the Windows Desktop SDK release builds. Added multi-threaded (via ptheads) capability to Gateway Streams interface on the UNIX/Linux platforms to allow for multiple network stream scans (one scan per stream per thread). Assisted in integrating the Threat Crawler, Threat Analyzer, and ThreatStream applications in support of the patent-pending Threat Prevention Systems (TPS) effort to support the Threat Research mission of identifying potential malware and keeping the definition files up-to-date for the Earthlink customers. Developed requirements, design, and code from scratch of the ThreatStream application and successfully released the ThreatStream product to customers.
