Profile bio

About Jeff Klein

I am a physicist, engineer, and physical sciences generalist with broad experience as an individual contributor, technical leader, and technical engineering manager. I am a curious, enthusiastic and resourceful engineer who takes pride in having a breadth of research experience beginning with experimental ballooning, which I have successfully transitioned to research in the private sector. I have worked for both for internal product development and government contracts and have experience generating novel new concepts and writing proposals. I have a high level of expertise in mechanical and thermal design, experimental design, data acquisition and statistical analysis, optical and image sensing, software development, and modeling of multiphysics systems, as well as experience winning DARPA-funded research programs and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams including software, quality, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering contributors.I have worked on a variety of emerging technologies, including novel fuel cell technology for UAS, materials for hydrogen storage, water-sorption devices, ML-based traffic tracking and analysis, and most recently LiDAR for weather applications. I have worked across all levels of the development cycle, from early technology incubation, to product development, product introduction, and product sustaining efforts.
