As a Science Fellow at the Waitt Institute, my primary responsibilities include fostering partnership development and support in the coordination and execution of scientific expedition work. I also provide assistance in data management and all scientific efforts contributing to the implementation of Marine Spatial Plans for all country sites.

Yap, Fsm

• Assisted in establishing proper guidelines for an internship between the NGO Micronesian Conservation Coalition (MCC) and Manta Ray Bay Resort in Yap, FSM. • Developed and presented weekly presentations about manta rays, sharks, and common marine life species throughout Micronesia for both residents and visitors to the island.• Provided dive briefings and guided guests throughout their dive at more than 30 different dive sites and identified and informed guests of marine life encountered throughout the dive.• Collected data on the reef manta ray population to further the Yap Manta Project through MCC.

Guam

• Conducted daily animal care for invertebrates, vertebrates, and mammals. • Oversaw feeding and cleaning of animal enclosure.• Advised on health and behavior to improve daily animal husbandry. • Oversaw and conducted weekly water quality checks on tanks and monitored and attended to special sensitivity tanks. • Oversaw tank cleaning, dive operations and safety, as well as equipment servicing and safety. • Assisted in successful breeding of moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) and seahorses (Hippocampus erectus).

Guam

• Assist in all dive shop operations from shop open to close, including store organization, customer service, equipment distribution, weekly boat scheduling and event planning.• knowledge and communication of description on how to best use all gear and products carried.• Provided dive briefings and guided guests throughout their dive at more than 60 dive sites surrounding Guam.
