-Seeing differentiation needs, I analyzed data to plan curriculum.-Recognizing the power of technology to engage students and differentiate learning, I researched and used sites like Newsela; Freerice; Worddynamo; Google Drive; Noredink; Classroom, Inc.-To increase the use of technology in our district, I presented at a school conference about effective and varied ways to use technology to increase differentiation and student engagement.-Since research points to the effectiveness in using data and different reading levels, I successfully lobbied for our school’s purchase of an online reading program - Newsela. -I worked on a team to start a new school in Chicago Public Schools - Solorio Academy High School.-I became the first English Department Chair of Solorio.-I helped drive instruction to raise ACT scores at Solorio to 18.2, one of the highest-scoring Chicago Public Schools neighborhood schools with no special programs.-I earned and renewed National Board Certification.-I volunteered to teach exploring computer science, AP Language, AP Literature, film studies, and creative writing.-As the district rolled out a new testing system, I piloted the English 10 assessment, writing specific feedback regarding questions, rubric, objectives, format, etc.-When a new teacher joined our school, I mentored him through the Golden Apple program.

A company wanted help aligning activities, lesson plans, and assessments to educational standards. I have worked on multiple projects to achieve that goal. When a branch of that company wanted to build an app where users can search for books that fit different categories, I wrote tags for books.

A nonprofit company wants to connect mentors in the business world with people striving to learn more about business. I guided our team through the stand-up process as Scrum Master, researched ideas including the new ActionCable chat feature in Rails 5, and worked with teammates to develop our big picture, break up the steps we needed to take, and create the app that will streamline the mentoring vision of our client. Using Agile Development, we wrote code, wrote tests for our code, and were serious about our Git flow!

I wrote engaging curriculum to help this new company grow. When we needed a passage for a specific purpose, I wrote one. In the course of three assignments for Core-LX, I learned from feedback to the point where my last submission was accepted “as is.”
