A program targeting young Millennials, and their affluent parents, wishing to broaden their global perspective by spending a year of high school studying abroad and living with a local host family. The Country Product Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Canadian division of EF High School Year. As Product Manager for EF High School Year Abroad, I was responsible for setting and adhering to the division’s budget, creating and executing the marketing plan and meeting and exceeding sales targets. I managed a team of 2 full-time and 1 part-time staff as well as a network for 20+ Sales Agents across Canada.Many changes were taking place as I took on this role and the first major challenge was to reduce the budget by 35%. This was accomplished through creating a strategic and targeted marketing campaign and investing in social media promotion.

I planned and executed the initial recruitment campaign and also wrote and designed all of the promotional materials. Once the recruitment goal was met, the Sales Agents were invited to a training weekend in Toronto where I planned and led two full days of information and training sessions. In the first year of operation the Sales Agent network was responsible for 30% of total sales.

A not-for-profit organization seeking and supporting volunteer host families in promoting cross-cultural understanding between Canadians and international high school exchange students. The National Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Canadian division of EF Foundation. While in the Program Manager role for EF Foundation for Foreign Study in Canada, I led a team of 30+ volunteers from Québec, Ontario and Prince Edward Island and 3 staff members in the support of students from around the world, and their Canadian host families. I motivated my team of volunteers so that together we met the student placement (sales) goals for the August 2010 and August 2011 seasons. My greatest achievement in this role was decreasing the marketing and advertising costs for the August 2011 season by 55% while still meeting the placement goal. This was done by setting up a strict advertising budget based on a cost-per-student basis, evaluating the highest response-rate channels, engaging families and students with social media and by investing in new incentives.
