At Sun Technologies I manage many of the company's HR functions. I handle the on-boarding of all new employees, including running background checks, preparing and editing employee contracts, and completing I-9s. In addition, I help ensure the company's legal compliance by keeping up to date on ever-changing HR legal issues such as Overtime Rules and Paid Sick Leave laws.I also handle the company's 401k and health benefits administration by coordinating with brokers to review benefit plans, creating materials and presentations to keep employees informed of their benefits, and tracking employee eligibility and enrollment. Some of my successes at Sun Technologies include implementing a new dental and vision program, and creating an Employee Outreach program, which has increased employee engagement after the on-boarding process. This has been key to improving the employee's experience and retention.

As an intern with this entrepreneurial startup, I helped on several projects to lay the foundations for the company. Farm Star Living is an online magazine that seeks to highlight the farm-to-table movement in the US. One of my main projects was creating an organized database of farms and farm-to-table restaurants that would be searchable by many keywords. In addition, I reviewed, edited, formatted, and posted articles and interviews with farmers. Both of these projects are still visible on the website today. As my first job, this experience gave me an opportunity to learn how a company operates, especially a small startup. Additionally, it gave me priceless skills interacting with my coworkers, and hands-on experience with professional writing.
