Jonathan Gomez is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.Jonathan's research centers on the role of technology in enhancing or deterring from equity goals, broadly defined. His research addresses topical areas including artificial intelligence, digital privacy, content moderation, and platform strategy. In evaluating these technologies, Jonathan's research highlights equity issues impacting minority groups, small businesses, and freedom of speech. Jonathan addresses these pressing questions with a diverse skillset involving econometric techniques, deep learning, and network analysis.Jonathan has been awarded numerous awards and fellowships. Jonathan has been named a Laney Fellow, a Woodruff Fellow, an Elfrink Fellow, and a Sheth Fellow. Jonathan is a member of Twitter's Moderation Research Consortium and his research has benefited from Google grant funding. Jonathan's work has also been been recognized with the INFORMS DEI Best Student Paper Award, as the runner-up for the WISE Best Student Paper Award, and his dissertation research was named first runner-up for the ISS Nunamaker-Chen Dissertation Award.
