About Jim Roth

I lead customer success at Salesforce which includes customer support and customer training in addition to traditional customer success. Our team improves the health of every customer through our Success Plans offerings which combine the best of success, support, and training into a single experience that helps customers get the most out of our products.  We’re also developing a new measure of customer success called the health score built on our new data cloud technology. Beyond data cloud, our entire tech stack is Salesforce products and products from our AppExchange. Prior to Salesforce, I spent 17 years at Dell where I worked in services, marketing, and IT. When I led services product development and marketing we launched award-winning services like ProDeploy and multi-billion dollar offerings like ProSupport Plus. Before IoT was a buzzword we developed phone home software called SupportAssist that enables proactive and even predictive customer service. In IT we worked to digitally transform services and marketing through software platforms including customer relationship management, marketing automation, field service, and self-service on dell.com and delltechnologies.com. My professional passion is applying what I’ve learned throughout my career to drive experience innovation for customers. My approach is moving fast and applying user-obsessed product management, design thinking, and modern technology. As a leader, I continue to believe in approachable servant leadership and view myself at the bottom of an inverted organization chart supporting frontline execution teams. This philosophy works as well in Austin as it does in Hyderabad or Dublin and helps me connect with our team around the world at all levels of the organization. Working for a company that is so guided by core values and does so much for stakeholders has definitely changed my perspective on leadership and culture.I graduated with degrees in engineering and economics from Northwestern University where I played baseball and met my wife Katy. Other than two great years at Stanford where we both went to business school, we've lived in Austin for over 20 years and have four incredible kids who make sure we laugh and smile every day. I love all sports and spend my free time coaching or cheering for our kids, working out, playing as much golf as possible, and skiing whenever possible. I’m a diehard fan of all Chicago teams along with Northwestern and Stanford.
