CA’s Wily Application Performance Management solutions allow real-time monitoring of customer environments to rapidly detect, diagnose and resolve issues. Responsible for QA and release management of on-going customer platform/environment compatibility requests and service packs. Direct reports include 4 senior QA engineers, also dotted line responsibility for India team.Key Contributions:- Ensuring effective response to customer’s urgent needs as well as on-time delivery of scheduled releases by coordinating work between US and India teams.- Engaging with program manager and developers to ensure requirements are evaluated and met. - Leading internationalization QA effort and brought a new i18n/L10n test team up to speed.- Setup the build certification process and reduced execution time from 5 to 2 days.- Producing metrics and presenting in on-going program reviews to communicate test progress.

LDM provides web, client/server & software services for secure digital media distribution over the Internet. Provided Walmart.com’s online music store and services, branded and integrated with their site. Responsible for QA, build and release of all products & services in small start-up environment. Direct reports included 1 manager and 7 QA engineers. Managed outsourced test team in Vietnam.- Supported Wal*Mart’s 99.9% uptime and level of service requirements by gearing testing and the deployment process toward the highest levels of performance and stability. - Worked with key clients on issue priority and resolution, joint test efforts, and release planning, so they were informed, engaged and knew their needs were being met.- Became a certified Scrum Master and set up Agile training for Development and QA groups, as part of transitioning to Agile and improving QA’s early and effective involvement.- Set up white box and automation test teams, who primarily worked with Java, Perl and Selenium. - Directed load and performance test automation effort (using Load Runner and Keynote).- Took over build and release management to fully engage QA in the end to end process, increase awareness of changes in each build, remove reliance on release notes and reduce build reject rate.- Setup a QA lab for compatibility testing. Also staging environments for performing deployment dry runs, including checking the deployment documents QA wrote for IT, to help ensure smooth releases.- Managed over 200 releases to meet customer requirement for frequent competitive updates. This included minor db patches through to major system updates. We consistently hit our dates.- Improved communication between Engineering and Customer Support and helped troubleshoot and prioritize issue resolution, adjust test strategies and monitor success based on customer feedback. The changes I recommended resulted in a 25% reduction in customer tickets over 2 years.

WildPackets provides software & hardware network analysis, troubleshooting & management solutions & services. I was hired to convince executive staff of the value of the test group, improve processes, increase the capabilities, flexibility & effectiveness of test, grow the team (from 6 test engineers), manage concurrent projects & help accelerate release cycles. It was a great company - but I was tempted back to, effectively my old job at Liquid.

As an independent consultant, I provided test strategy, management & training services, primarily to start-ups. I also co-presented tutorials in StarEAST & StarWEST software quality conferences, & participated in STMR (Software Test Managers' Roundtable) & LAWST (Los Altos Workshop on Software Testing) meetings in the US.
