I am the former co-chair of Axinn’s Antitrust Group and Managing Partner of the firm’s DC office. I have been selected by scores of corporate General Counsel to be their lead trial counsel for antitrust and other complex business disputes in dozens of federal and state trial courts, in the Supreme Court, and in nearly all of the federal circuit courts. I have represented one or both merging parties in fully litigated successful merger cases against both the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice. Recent Representative Matters:Independence Blue Cross in ongoing multi-district litigation in Alabama, the largest pending antitrust class action in the United States. The members of the alleged class include virtually all providers of medical services as well as all subscribers who get health care financing services from and Blue Cross/Blue Shield Plans. Shintech Incorporated in an ongoing class action brought by direct and indirect purchasers of caustic soda claiming that producers organized a cartel to restrict output and raise prices. The Danish conglomerate Danfoss A/S and its US and German subsidiaries in successful private antitrust and veil piercing litigation brought by General Electric arising out of solely foreign conduct Rockwell in its successful opposition to the merger of General Electric and Honeywell at the European Commission and numerous transactional matters. Checkpoint Systems in vacating an $80 million adverse antitrust jury verdict procured by a rival and in defending that outcome on appeal to the third circuit.Tomkins plc in a cartel proceeding in Europe and associated successful appeals to the general Court and the European Court of JusticeMany Chinese and Japanese clients in connection with cartel investigations in the United States and Europe.

Chaired, and later co-chaired with James Rill, Howrey's Antitrust Practice, then the largest assemblage of private competition lawyers in the world. (1992-2005)

Chaired the ABA Section of Antitrust Law for 1995-96, having previously served as Vice Chair, Program Officer, Secretary, Editor in Chief of the Section's flagship publication "Antitrust Law Developments," and for many years a member of the Section's Council.
