I created a tenant empowerment curriculum (Tenant Leadership Academy or TLA) that educated and equipped 65 low- to moderate-income renters, almost 90% Black, 86% women, in Guilford County from 2022 to 2023I facilitated more than 80 TLA workshops on topics such as “Fair Housing”, “Asset Mapping”, “Tenant and Landlord Rights and Obligations”, and more.I made affordable housing policy recommendations to the city governments of Gastonia, NC and Knightdale, NC as a Research Assistant in 2023; the Gastonia Affordable Housing Plan was adopted by the Gastonia City Council on November 21, 2023, and has the potential to expand greater opportunities to a growing number of residents if properly implemented.
