Throughout my varied career to date I have recognised the fundamental common theme of successfully working with people is key. Whether in academia, engineering, consultancy, and in whatever country or sector, people remain the heart of everything that's important within business and our private lives. I started my career within engineering, providing me with a systematic approach to problem solving. I undertook a number of roles from technical to more project management during my career.My move into consultancy was driven by a personal need for a new challenge, and to develop my skills further in a client focussed environment. Again, I have had the opportunity to develop across a number of areas, from systems engineering, into business analysis and business change, and have been fortunate to work with some great and varied clients.Every step I have worked with interesting people – and it is through working with people and achieving goals as a team that provides me with personal satisfaction.My current role is as the managing director of CMC – an SME consultancy firm specialising in the providing skills for transformation, skills which I have managed to hone throughout my career to date, but ones that I continually look to improve. Learning never finishes, and personal growth is a key factor for me, and I hope for all the staff of CMC. As of Feb 2021, CMC is an Employee Owned organisation, giving everyone in CMC a collaborative purpose and goals as individuals and an organisation. We work in highly collaborative ways with all our clients, and this reinforces my view of how we need to prioritise the human aspects of work. It is through this approach we can deliver great results, but also build lasting friendships throughout our business lives.
