KELP IT is a small IT consulting company that works with many small businesses in reaching their technical goals. We support varieties such as commercial landscaping companies, to engineering/manufacturing companies, to bakeries. We support anything from printer issues to replacing/rebuilding servers. The company supported Long Beach as well as the greater LA area and I would visit multiple clients in a day allowing me to improve my skills in a very dynamic environment. The company consisted of two partners and myself, brought on to balance the workload and eventually become a partner. The company was absorbed before that could happen due to the strain of the recession.

Triumph Fabrications is an aerospace sheet metal manufacturing company that has worked on commercial and military contracts for many years. I supported a user base of 150+ users from office to workshop personnel. This is where I picked up much of my experience with using plan English to describe solutions to users that weren't always computer savvy. I developed a MS SharePoint environment to organize and track processes that were vital to the strict quality control standards that are required in the Aerospace industry. Due to my knowledge of the quality control system I was asked to run the Document Control department to blend the technology and paper into one uniform system. I supervised a Document Control Specialist to get drawings and specifications digitized and loaded into the SharePoint system so Engineers and Quality Inspectors had better access to our customers' data. I also did low-level support on a legacy MicroVAX (OpenVMS) Server that was the companies ERP system.

Speedlink was a freight logistics start-up firm that moved freight by truck and rail up and down the west coast. I was responsible for connecting the CSO in Georgia, a CFO in Boston and the loading docks; I spent most of my time installing equipment, running new wiring / installing workstations, developing procedures and training employees on the systems. I also managed the office when the COO was out of town.
