Contracted Business Manager

Appointed by Mayor Karl Dean to the Department of Social Services for the Homeless Commission to develop, budget and implement sanctioned events. Tasked to oversee community involvement and corporate fundraising for non-profit arm of federal 10-year plan to end chronic homelessness which began in 2005. Work with Executive Director of Social Service to increase community resources and fund future outreach initiatives to offer free medical, dental and housing solutions. Directed housing first project with counseling and property contracts. Resulted from a $350,000 increase of community fundraising dollars and contributors. Marketed and Implemented additional events to secure funding for all events from 2012 thru 2015, effectively, the end of the federal 10-year plan. Efforts raised more than $100,000. Implemented rent assistance program serving over 900 prospective clients for permanent housing. Collaborated with 25 local corporations for daily and annual contributions to Adopt-A-Meter program, bringing awareness and resources for the Mayor’s homeless commission. Increased funding for public transportation by marketing MATA, metro bike rental program and newly added trolley travel.

Retained by the Senior State Lobbyist to be the liaison for all business relationships and understand government affairs environment. Initially challenged to develop and execute contacts, identify marketing strategies for cost savings and provide strategic business designs to increase profit margin. Develop and implement special events for fundraising and community-based awareness initiatives.As a member of the executive team with a demanding hands-on role that focused on public affairs and a commitment to achieving successful outcomes for clients, I combined multi-cultural experiences, a broad range of relationships and government knowledge to navigate the complex regulations of local and state governments.  Established new clients and integrated with initiatives in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Analyzed contracted client operations and increased corporate revenues by 25%. Responsible for executing vendor contract negotiations, onsite sales training and employee hiring. Boosted insurance reimbursements by $350,000 resubmitting previous sales after finding inconsistencies and unpaid claims.  Supervised 20 employees at 3 different regional stores.

Appointed by Mayor Willie Herenton to work with 1600 under-served youth ages 14 to 21 in low income communities of the city of Memphis. Develop and manage a competitive athletic sports league play for youths at local community centers.  Member of executive team developing weekly facility goals and contract review for vendor proposals. Managed well initiative program in conjunction with University of Memphis to identify health issues and awareness for student body.  Facilitated CPR and life-savings skills training class for staff and student participation. Presented with the City of Memphis Exceptional Service Award
