About John Taylor

Since 1976, following my graduation from law school, my professional commitment has been to work to promote social and economic justice. Growing up in the public housing projects of Boston left an indelible conviction that we were squandering the value of so many individuals trapped in a system that oppressed their creativity and potential. Poor education, health care, lack of economic opportunity and a myriad of other inequalities insured that few of my family and friends would have the kinds of opportunities that most people have taken for granted.My career has been marked by an impatience and continuing unapologetic commitment to bring hope and opportunity to underserved people and communities.After a series of work for several local non-profit development and human service organizations, I was hired in January 1992, as the first staff person for a newly formed coalition known as NCRC. Today NCRC has nearly 75 staff people, owns a 13-story office building in Washington, DC, has over 600 non-profit organizations that call themselves members of NCRC and they have been instrumental in impacting fair lending laws and regulations and increasing bank commitments and lending for millions of Americans.Specialties: Advocating and organizing for economic fairness and financial inclusion
