Hotel Engine's mission is to radically simplify trip management. I'm currently the engineering manager of the Pricing team which has six engineers.As a Tech Lead turned manager for the Pricing team, I've transformed our operations and led several innovations that have markedly enhanced our product and development process. Leading with a focus on technical excellence and strategic foresight, here are my key accomplishments:- Architected and orchestrated the transition to a microservice architecture, designing a flexible Pricing API that transformed a monolithic codebase into scalable services, boosting development agility and feature deployment.- Fostered technical excellence and innovation, managing and mentoring a team of 6 engineers, enhancing cross-functional collaboration, and driving forward the development of our Node.js application.- Led the technical design of multiple new pricing strategies, one directly resulting in a 1.2% reduction in total price and significant improvements in conversion rates (checkout to booking up by 1.7ppts; session to booking up by 1.8ppts) and another led to a 4.7% expansion in run rate for targeted accounts- Led the technical design for an improved method of calculating cost, achieving a 25 basis point reduction in COGS.- Revolutionized the deployment pipeline, introducing automated branch builds and significant codebase enhancements, which substantially increased developer velocity.- Led the team’s transition to Kanban and established a backlog triage process which allowed the team to prioritize work and focus on paying down tech debt- Enhanced system reliability and accuracy by revamping how money calculations were handled - Improved observability, directed improvements to logging and metrics with Datadog.

I completed the transition to engineering manager as part of Indeed's Coach in Training program. The team built a product allowing employers to interview job seekers asynchronously. I led a sub-team of three engineers to increase the number of job seekers who completed the interview invitation while making the experience more humanizing and worthwhile.- Served as team tech lead and directly managed three engineers for growth stage product- Increased the rate job seekers completed interviews by 72% and began interviews by 66%, while reducing errors they experienced by 6.1%- Mentored two junior engineers to become tech leads- Collaborated with a partner team of eight engineers to prepare the product for future growth

As the tech lead, I built Indeed's first candidate quality screening automation product from 0 to 1. I, and the team, scaled it to hundreds of enterprise clients and it was used by hundreds of thousands of job seekers per year. It increased downstream positive interview outcomes by 52%.The product allows employers to automate the process of assessing whether a candidate would be a good fit for the job. It also gave job seekers real-time feedback on their job application, avoiding the "black hole" problem.- Served as tech lead for a team of six engineers - Defined the technical direction of the product and guided team members to deliver product goals by breaking down work into discrete milestones- Onboarded and coached four new engineers to be successful team members- Assisted senior manager in planning how to scale system architecture and setting team's technical OKRs- Debugged module with the lowest job seeker completion rate leading to a 59% improvementAdditional, non-product related accomplishments- Led over a dozen whiteboard interviews- Planned migration from Python 3.6 to 3.9 for division of 40+ engineers- Built Gitlab CI templates for NodeJS webapps, crons, daemons, and libraries to be used by hundreds of projects across the organization

I worked in Indeed's Incubator, its new product innovation hub. Small teams took new product ideas and built an MVP seeking product-market fit. Ideas that proved successful monetarily or strategically were exited to the larger enterprise.

- Reduced training time of a reinforcement learning AI agent by 93% after creating horizontally scaling infrastructure- Built a proof of concept AI in 4 weeks to secure a multi-million dollar contract- Modeled the effects of real-time traffic in collaboration with data scientists improving the prediction accuracy of bus arrival times by 10%- Drafted design and managed development of a data pipeline for a training simulator powering an analytics platform, and later improved its quality by initiating and overseeing the development of a QA platform- Designed a data abstracting system within a frontend application to simplify the cognitive load on the user
