• Nortel Secure Router (Linux on Dual MIPS)
• Rewrote MIPS version of Red Hat 2.4 kernel virt<->phys PCI mapping functionality to dynamically use the 16 PCI remapping windows. Needed to fix a 32bit DMA engine running in 64bit addressing space. This was to prevent.
• Modified the Red Hat kernel IDE, DMA, and RAID code to allow hot swapping of hard drives while running in RAID-1 (mirroring) within a Red Hat kernel that did not support hot-swapping.
• Responsible for initial board “bring-up” on proprietary HW, using a flash emulator, logic analyzer, and scope
• Kept mini-OS boot code resident and mapped out of Linux space: during Linux "Oops/Panic", did a callback to the boot code to store critical panic data into persistent storage.
• Wrote a custom boot loader to uncompress one of 2 Linux kernel images from flash into RAM and jump to it.

• Designed / implemented the host driver for multiple intelligent VTM PCI cards in an Intel motherboard based “pizza” box.
• Debugged with GDB, logic analyzer, and scope
• VTM Driver <-> DSP firmware communication/control used shared memory rings and PCI mailbox registers.
• Data passing of AAL2 voice cells and AAL5 connection packets between VTM "bundles" and ATM logical ports were handled through shared memory rings.ATM Cell Relay
• Designed / implemented a Cell Relay functionality to cross-connect any ATM logical port (vpi/vci) to any other ATM logical port (OC3, DS3, T1, E1) in a Sonoma box. Debugger for the Maker 3010 chip

• ATM NIC (Software/Hardware SAR using LSI MiniRisc CW4010 Microprocessor)
• Designed NIC firmware for Host to SAR communication using message rings

• Designed/implemented boot prom code to setup PCI and PCMCIA buses to boot 2 flavors of OS’s from a PCMCIA 20MB Flash card (Localbus<>PCI<>PCMCIA)
