As an Application Systems Analyst/Programmer at Horace Mann I assisted with development of the Auto Insurance application by gathering information, performing analysis, and eliciting the details of user requirements in discussion with users. I worked within a small team completing design, documentation, development, testing, and debugging through consistent bi-weekly releases. Most of the work was supporting the application software by fixing defects and making enhancements as required by business partners. C# coding was used in Visual Studio 2017, XML for Duck Creek P&C Software, and SQL in SQL Server 2014 Management Studio.

The Litigation Management Systems department receives legal documents and service of process (SOP) for legal entities and businesses that Corporation Service Company represents. Documents are entered into an online database system where I research the case or file in state, federal, and international websites and determine the details of the SOP. I contact clients and inform them of pertinent information of impending lawsuits and explain the legal process to them. I work on an hourly schedule and am required to meet productions goals on both an hourly and weekly basis. On average in the past four years I have exceeded the standard requirements by 14-18%, achieving department recognition and awards. I also work closely with high profile and at-risk clients making sure their needs are met and staying connected with any changes in their legal requirements. I have trained co-workers on clients’ processes and have helped monitor quality and implement improvements to make sure the highest standard of service is being received by our clients.

In the Intensive English Department (IEP) I worked as a program coordinator and facilitated programming for international students who were preparing to apply as full time students at the University of Illinois at Springfield. I worked directly under the IEP Director and helped coordinate weekly meetings between international students and UIS faculty. I also implemented a non-academic program for American students to help English as a Second Language (ESL) students gain a better understanding of the English language and help integrate them into the student body. I organized and led visits to historical sites in Springfield and Central Illinois to help IEP students understand the local culture and prepare for entrance into the University full time. I facilitated meetings between IEP teachers and the students and assisted in tutoring students who were finding it difficult to maintain their studies.

At Camelot Care Center I worked closely with children and adolescents who were in the foster care system and needed more attention and help outside of their therapy sessions. I participated and occasionally led home visits and maintained a complete and thorough log of the children’s’ behavior and activity to assist the therapist and social workers in designing a program to help with behavioral issues. I scheduled meetings with my supervisor to inform her of any issues or unusual behavior that were noticed in times with children. I helped the adolescents establish weekly goals that they were held accountable for and followed up with as needed.

As the Residential Hall Director, I oversaw a residential academic summer program for Native and rural Alaskan high school students to prepare for post-secondary education. I supervised 8 residential mentors, who managed teams of five students each in the residential hall. I reported directly to the program director keeping him posted on the welfare of the students and the finances of the program. On a daily basis, I would follow up with students who were struggling in their academic studies or had any personal concerns. I created and implemented a ten-week seminar for students to gain a better understanding of academic, cultural, and health related issues. I contacted speakers suited for talking to the students, including the chancellor of the University. I held nightly meetings with staff and students and made sure mentors were following through with responsibilities and helped solved any issues as needed.
