I am the Torrey H. Webb Professor of Law at the Gould School of Law, University of Southern California. I founded and direct the USC Media, Entertainment and Technology Law Program. I am the author of The Big Steal: Ideology, Interest, and the Undoing of Intellectual Property (Oxford 2024) and Innovators, Firms, and Markets: The Organizational Logic of Intellectual Property (Oxford 2021), and a co-editor of 5G and Beyond: Intellectual Property and Competiton Policy in the Internet of Things (Cambridge 2023). I am also an academic affiliate of the International Center for Law & Economics and the Center for Intellectual Property x Innovation Policy. I have published widely in scholarly journals on legal and economic matters relating to antitrust and competition, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and innovation law and policy. I also comment regularly on these issues in trade and policy publications. Prior to academia, I practiced corporate law at Cleary Gottlieb LLP in New York.
