My name is Jonathan Carmichael and I am a Senior in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. For many years I have had a deep interest in mechanical design and understanding how things operate. In high school I took 2 years of classes studying Autodesk Inventor, while also taking a significant interest in the automobile industry. fAs a Mechanical Engineering student at UL I have had the opportunity to study a variety engineering topics hands on from very knowledgeable and decorated engineering professors. From Aug. 2023-Aug. 2024,, I applied several principles and techniques as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Practical Engineering Solutions, LLC. The jobs I performed there included drafting in Solidworks, performing structural analysis in RISA 3D, running code checks on pressure vessels according to ASME, DNV, and GOM standards using Compress, and even acting as Project manager and working directly with the customer to ensure needs and goals were met.
