Working under Dr. Robert Field in the Department of Atmospheric Science, participated in the Shale Oil and Natural Gas Nexus (SONGNEX) national field study for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). My team and I were tasked with compiling ambient air quality measurements with oil and gas well production data, then performed GIS spatial/statistical analysis to produce final maps and reports. The final reports quantified the atmospheric emissions from tight oil and shale gas basins in the western U.S. and outlined the chemical processes that contribute to localized concentrations of ozone and fine particle formation.
