  I have been a Financial Advisor for 47 years. I began my career with Merrill Lynch on February 7,1972 in Shreveport, La. From 1972 -December 1976 I was both a stock broker and a commodity trader. In December 1976 I moved to Dallas and joined Kidder,Peabody. In 1987 I decided to take a different approach to helping my clients by becoming a Certified Financial Planner(R). By the end of 1989 I was completing the last of my certification requirements and decided that I could better serve my clients by being part of a fully engaged financial planning firm than as part of NYSE member firm that had many other interests. In 1990 I joined Carter Financial Management and was privileged to be a colleague and learn from some of the giants of the financial advisory world. In 1995, it was time for me to be on my own. I opened my own financial advisory firm in February 1995: Jon L Weinstein, CFP®. On February 7,2019, I celebrated 47 years of investment experience. I am among a very few advisors that have the rare New York Stock Exchange Series 1.
