I am board certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine. I care for chronically homeless and marginally housed adults and other vulnerable populations. For nearly a decade I was the director of the flagship, multi site health care for the homeless program of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. My clinical expertise includes general primary care, addiction medicine, gender health, hepatitis C treatment and HIV treatment and prevention. My skills and experience include LEAN management, program innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strategic thinking. I am committed to increasing the diversity of the health care workforce at all levels and to creating anti-racist health care settings that are more equitable and inclusive places to work and to receive care.I have strong interpersonal skills. I am an effective communicator, consensus builder, resilient in the face of challenges, and work well under pressure. In addition to my management experience in public sector healthcare, I have a demonstrated track record in public speaking and moderating. From 2007-2022, I served as executive producer and host of State of the Bay (fka, City Visions) a live, weekly, one hour public affairs radio program on NPR affiliate, KALW San Francisco. The show focuses on Bay Area politics, culture, community, innovators and thinkers. I have moderated community building story telling events by and for health care providers, trainees and consumers through the UCSF chapter of Primary Care Progress.
