Senior Data Scientist for Shepper, who provide local data collection using a UK-wide network of individuals via the Shepper mobile app. My work includes:• Advanced development and overall ownership of Shepper’s BI platform, with direct responsibility for our largest clients (some with 1,000+ users on the platform).• Developing predictive completion, pricing, and performance scoring models.• Expansion of the data function with the training and management of a second team member.• Custom dashboard widget development and scripting to meet advanced use cases.• Process and platform automation with REST API and workflow automation tools.This role allowed me to build on what I had created when joining the company, as it transitioned from start-up to scale-up. The increased demands from both leadership and customers necessitated deeper Sisense platform and data understanding, and also resulted in me recruiting, training, and managing a second team member.

Data Scientist for Shepper, joining as the business was looking to rebuild its customer data delivery using a newly acquired BI platform. My work included:• Transforming Shepper’s range of collected data into organised data models and analysable structures.• Speaking with customers to understand their goals, then building bespoke dashboards to meet requirements, encourage data interaction, and challenge preconceptions.• Creating custom tools to address operational issues, including the manual review process for data gathered, detection of problematic collected data, and other internal platform feature requests.• Applying data science and machine learning practices to the wider data collection and analysis processes, including image recognition and other modelling techniques.This role gave me experience working with a large relational MySQL database hosted in an AWS environment. I created hundreds of bespoke dashboards with custom data structures using the data and analytics platform Sisense, plus used machine learning methods to interpret and understand data on a large scale. The role also gave me experience working in a start-up undergoing its series B fundraising.

Position designing data backup and disaster recovery technical solutions for major IBM client infrastructure transition projects. This involved the following activities:• Engaging with clients to explore and validate their data resiliency requirements.• Working with large backup data sets to derive insights into customer data usage patterns, then making business recommendations as to how to improve backup and retrieval performance metrics.• Designing cloud backup and recovery systems for data, creating design documents and diagrams, then discussing and reviewing these with client and internal IBM stakeholders of various levels of technical ability.• Resolution of any technical issues during implementation using my understanding of the wider solution.This role developed my understanding of cloud service providers, including AWS, IBM Cloud, and Azure-based solutions, as well as my experience of large infrastructure projects. I was able to improve customer data backup metrics, often from days into hours. The Architects’ rapid delivery of designs meant we were IBM GTS Europe's ‘Team of the Month’ in June 2020. I also completed training covering various technical areas and architectural best practices.

A project working to set up and deploy a private IBM Cloud instance to a client’s data centre within a tight timescale, for use as a future test environment. This project gave me experience with the following:• Installing and configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).• Creating and deploying Virtual Machines (VMs) using VMware vSphere.• Installing and running containerised Cloud instances using Docker containers.

A selective 2-month full-time technical skills course, consisting of comprehensive classroom education sessions, along with the application of these skills through the development of two technical prototypes for real IBM clients.The technical areas covered included:• Programming and rapid prototyping using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, as well as Git for collaboration.• Applications of machine learning, supervised learning, and data science principles.• Uses of cloud, AI, and cognitive applications.• Other topics including big data, data analytics, app containerisation, and more.Throughout, I worked in a small Agile team with IBM clients to apply the skills learnt to create two functional technical prototypes addressing the clients’ challenges. The first was a voice-controlled cognitive assistant to help nurses gather patient data, the second was a smart dashboard designed to engage employees, derive data insights, and which also featured a smart AI assistant.My ability to learn and effectively apply new programming languages was instrumental in creating these functional prototypes in such a short timeframe. Presenting my solutions also helped me to further develop my presentation skills and led to new IBM-client partnership growth opportunities.

Position as the governance lead for the architectural design team on a new client contract beginning its infrastructure transition to IBM.I ran the design authority, working closely with the lead account architect along with the wider architect team to produce and review key technical design documentation covering the entire infrastructure solution. I was based on the client site, working with both the programme and technical teams. This gave me a key insight to both aspects of the project and meant I became a key contact for any customer requests.The ability to effectively comprehend new technical concepts was vital for this role, improving my knowledge across Security, Networking, Data Centre infrastructure, and IT Resilience. Being based on the client site developed my communication skills and experience collaborating with external clients.

Role based in account growth for an established multinational PR and marketing client, managing the end-to-end sales process.My key responsibilities included writing contracts for the delivery of new services, as well as understanding and pricing constituent technologies. I was the lead for two client sub-companies, handing requests from these and having regular discussions with the client to understand their requirements. I was also responsible for training 3 new starters joining the team and created an in-depth team workflow guide to assist with this, which is still used by the team several years later.During my time in this role, I wrote over $1M worth of total signed work contracts. The position also improved my general technical skills, attention to detail, and understanding of contractual language. The ability to effectively manage a demanding workload was also essential.

First in a series of roles as part of the IBM graduate scheme, involving positions across the business working on a variety of client contracts. My initial role was within the commercial team for a multinational financial services client during the IT service transition phase, based onsite at the client’s headquarters in Surrey.I oversaw the savings process covering the close of 2016; identifying, quantifying, and tracking savings initiatives to ensure IBM met customer targets, presenting my insights regularly to senior members of both the IBM and client teams.This role improved my commercial skills and understanding of IT infrastructure and service transitions. Being based on the client site daily also gave me a lot of experience working directly with external clients.

Industrial placement year at the global technology and consulting corporation as part of the commercial team for a major client. Key responsibilities included:• Owning the weekly claim check process – performing analysis on this data and developing it throughout the year to introduce additional features and improve the flagging response rate.• Leading a new piece of data analysis of account expense data, deriving insights and presenting my findings to the account leadership team through regular meetings, presenting data visualisations to explore ways we might be able to improve efficiency and save money.• Forecasting costs for IBM subcontractors, requiring me to work with external parties as well as internal project managers to develop a complete view of these costs for the year.

Seasonal work at an art-house cinema projecting films in Oundle and surrounding villages. Responsibilities included transporting and operating equipment, as well as solving any technical issues. I also created the cinema’s social media page and grew it to several hundred followers.
