I am responsible for the integration of the community partnership strategies and the United Way Suncoast (UWS) community investment process; ensuring the strategic alignment and sound stewardship of UWS financial and non-financial resources through best practice principles around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and continuous improvement; and overseeing of the Community Impact program and funded program data collection, data integrity, analysis, and reporting processes with the goal of making the most strategically aligned and thoughtful investment and partnership decisions to generate impact in Education and Financial Stability in Tampa Bay.
Grants Manager
As Grants Manager, my role is to establish and maintain strategic visibility and positioning with existing and potential external funding agencies. I lead and guide the development, implementation, evaluation and refinement of proposed projects, and identify and target large, complex programs for development and incubation. I oversee all pre- and post-award activities, from long-term planning and proposal development, through to assisting with and monitoring program outcomes. My goal is to diversity the funding streams available to TFHC in order for the organization to focus on innovation in health care for all and serving the medically vulnerable in our community.

I collaborated with the Board of Directors and a wide range of civic and private partners to achieve our mission, serving as an amplifier to the voice of our community’s needs and desires.Grants and Fundraising-As the sole grant writer for Voces, managed a total of over $1.5 million in awards from grantors such as the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, UnidosUS, Solidarity Giving, Battle Creek Community Foundation and the United Way-Created a sponsorship program for special events, resulting in nearly $30,000 in annual donationsOrganizational Leadership-Established company-sponsored healthcare plan and a matching 401(k) retirement program for staff.-Designed coaching and professional development processes that extended tenure of senior management to over three years, reversing a previous trend of high turnoverSystems Change-Launched the first US Department of Justice recognized Immigration Legal Services Program in Battle Creek, offering low cost assistance with visa and Deferred Action renewals, initial visa applications and naturalizations for over 30 clients in its first year. Also a founding member of Project Dignity, supporting those detained at the Calhoun County facility, and advocating for the complete end to non-criminal immigrant detention-Re-centered the priority for businesses to provide meaningful language access by building internal resources rather than relying on external vendors. Established two programs to sell to businesses – Onsite Workplace ESL & Bilingual Staff training – which also increased non-philanthropic revenue for the organization
Director Of Education
I direct and oversee all Education Department staff and educational programming at Culture Connect, making sure that ignorance is no excuse to ensuring equal access to healthcare and other services for all immigrants, refugees and citizens of all national backgrounds. My role is increase the impact that all of our programs - which include Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare®: A Medical Interpreter Training, Cultural Competency, Language Proficiency Testing, and other continuing education opportunities for interpreters, service providers and community members - continue to grow and have a relevant impact on our constituents.
Interpreter Education Manager
Design, market and implement workshops and training courses for interpreters in Georgia per the standards of the International Medical Interpreter Association, the National Council of Interpreters in Healthcare, and the vision of Culture Connect. Courses include quarterly professional skill-building workshops, intermittent trainings at hospitals and school districts, and full 45 hour certificate course. Manage and direct a team of trainers and session coaches.
Language Services Program Manager
Manage over 150 contractors serving as live interpreters and document translators speaking over 60 languages. Partner with and serve as the direct contact for major medical and school systems in the Metro Atlanta area to provide for their interpretation and translation needs. Grow Culture Connect, Inc. as an interpretation agency through business development with new and emerging markets in the Metro Atlanta area. Engage in contract work for Spanish interpretation and document translations, and serve as the point of contact within Culture Connect for Spanish speakers. Design and supervise educational and professional development seminars and opportunities for interpreters in the Atlanta Area.
