Patent Invalidation Litigations & Emerging Markets IP

• Manage functional and operational deliverables of the invalidation team • Develop, review, and draft invalidation position for patents in biotechnology domain. • Understand value associated with “method of use” IP, to understand value distribution in timeseries. • Based on the value distribution of secondary IP, synthesize a dynamic IP and litigation strategy, in light of the legal framework of the geography.• Part of hiring and interview panels within the IP group. • Preparation of hiring plan and resource utilization within the group• Responsible for team mentoring and appraising• Conduct and mediate a monthly case study session for the entire IP group, to keep up with ever changing IP legal-scape.

• Develop freedom to operate position and IP landscape for various biologic products • Particular expertise in method of treatment, antibody technology, cell line development, process patents (upstream & downstream processes), analytical methods, formulation for biological products etc. • Detailed techno-legal analysis of infringement / non-infringement position of patents • Patentability analysis of in house inventions, and draft and file patents covering these inventions. • Project manager for tracking and planning core IP projects.• Part of the interview and hiring panel within the IP group.• Responsible for team mentoring and appraising.

Research focused on understanding the development and cross-talk between the adaptive and innate immune arms of the immune system. The research attempted to unravel a mechanistic basis of development of the so-called “innate like T cells” - NKT cells.I primarily took two approaches; in one approach I attempted to address the site and cell types that express the transcription factor PLZF, responsible for development of NKT cells. I studied this by generating two different transgenic reporter mouse models, that authentically tracked the in-vivo expression of PLZF. In the other approach I addressed attempted to understand the structure of invariant T-cell receptor expressed on the surface of the NKT cells.
