Provide direction and make key decisions on diverse, strategic company-wide issues. Strengthen divisional tax/accounting functions and streamline efficiency closing processes. Oversee operation of calculating GAAP and Internal Revenue Code requirements which impacts Southern California Edison’s (SCE) company-wide earnings and Tax Return Filing. Work with cross-functional groups to ensure timely and accurate preparation of book and tax depreciation accounting, budgeting variance analysis, long range forecasts, writing regulatory related testimony, memo accounts related depreciation and average investment rate base, property tax expense accrual, corporate Federal and State tax return supporting documentation and accrual to tax return true-up schedules. Develop and support all regulatory filings (CPUC, FERC and IRS) as they pertain to all property related tax matters and interface with federal and state taxing authorities including writing testimony. Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures consistent with GAAP and tax requirements. Report directly to the Director of Capital Recovery and Valuation Services. Review and certify Tax Depreciation and Property Tax related SOX documents. Ensure that the team is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Manager 3 (7/2005-3/2011) Supervisor to Manager 2 (9/1997-6/2005)Promoted to a Senior Manager position in recognition of ongoing performance and dedication in 2005 and acquired Benefits Accounting section in 2009. Reported to the Assistant Controller and led a unit of 20 accountants, responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of Edison International (EIX) and SCE financial records. Oversaw the recording of SCE’s electricity revenue of $10 billion and fuel and purchased power expense of $3.5 billion per year. Ensured 100% accuracy in all recorded amounts as any error would impact SCE’s financials significantly. Provided timely closing of SCE and EIX’s financials on a monthly basis overseeing the recording of revenues, regulatory treatment of revenues and costs, benefits related accounting such as executive deferred compensation, stock-based compensation accounting, various Payroll related account reconciliations, timely filing 401K Tax Return, benefits related audited financial statements, and routine monthly corporate accounting entries. Compiled, analyzed and presented earnings impact to Chief Financial Officer, SCE Controller, Treasurer and EIX Controller to make key financial decisions on a monthly basis. Provided variance explanations and communicated financial discrepancies with management and Price Waterhouse which enhanced the quality and content of the monthly financial reporting package. Regularly delivered high-level financial presentations to executive management.Key Results:• Successfully developed and established new financial and regulatory accounting processes and procedures consistent with GAAP and regulatory requirements. First created a tool in 1998 for the electric restructuring market which is still used today. Once tool was put into production it quickly captured problems such as missing revenue, with was estimated to have impacted findings by $100 Million.
