I assisted with conservation efforts in the greater Quabbin region, with a special focus on farmland conservation initiatives and projects. I conducted a farmland inventory and completed a Community Food System Assessment for the north Quabbin area in order to assist local conservation organizations in identifying specific farms and food system assets for priority conservation. I also coordinated the Greater Quabbin Food Alliance, a collaborative group of farmers, consumers, planners, conservationists, health professionals, and other food system actors who meet twice yearly to take action to strengthen the regional food system.

I assisted the Farmland Preservation Program in their mission to preserve farmland for future generations through a purchase of development rights (PDR) program. I made maps using GIS, conducted site visits and farmer interviews, scored farmer applications to the program, and prepared reports using appraisals, surveys, and other documentation. I also contributed background research and participated in visioning for various other state agricultural projects, including the installation of signage on preserved farmland and the implementation of a new state incubator farm.
