Manager, Instructional Design
I manage a small team of Instructional Designers, and together we are responsible for training design and development for internal and external learning audiences across several libraries of product enablement training content. I am a working manager, and am responsible for my own training design projects (as specified in my most previous role at JAGGAER). As a people manager, I collaborate with my direct reports and encourage them to innovate and take ownership in their individual work as well as the entire team's output. As a manager on my broader team, I am responsible for leading and implementing several process improvement projects (such as training requests, training project plans, SME training contributions, and digital credentialing) as well as documenting standard operating procedures to drive consistency in our team's deliveries.
Training Designer
I wear two hats in my role as Training Designer at JAGGAER (formerly SciQuest):First, I design and develop eLearning content. This includes the management of custom eLearning video libraries and user guides purchased by JAGGAER clients as part of their professional implementation services. This involves working with each client to determine the best path of learning for their end-users, then managing the development of task-based video tutorials and guides that are customized to the client's exact JAGGAER product configuration, all while meeting rapid go-live implementation deadlines. I am also responsible for developing content for our LMS guided implementation curriculum, and work with product SMEs across various internal departments to do so. The other hat I wear is that of primary training curriculum designer and application training facilitator for JAGGAER's spend analytics tool, Spend Radar. In my time with JAGGAER, this side of my role has had me designing and implementing training curriculum for end-user customer training, partner certification, user conference training classes and user group knowledge sessions, and new hire education, across instructor-led (classroom and virtual) and eLearning on-demand formats to suit the learners' needs. For each of these efforts, I've constructed reference documentation materials to support the learner beyond the training class. This role also has me working closely with internal teams of SMEs who work with the product every day and understand the needs of its customers. Understanding the relationship between the customer and their use of the product is vital to the development of its education efforts.
Content Manager
As a Content Manager with ChannelAdvisor, I worked heavily in an Instructional Designer capacity, creating and maintaining learning tutorials, user guides, and online self-service how-to instructional content that was used by both internal and external customers. Working closely with our Product Management team, I drove the publishing and distribution of monthly Product Release Notes to inform all customers of changes to our products, and updated our online content (both written and video) to reflect those changes. My role was housed in the Marketing Department, and in being there, I was also involved in activities not traditionally associated with training or instructional design but more so in marketing: customer newsletters, event coordination, and webinar promotion.
Learning Facilitator
In my role as Learning Facilitator at Intuit Health, I took on many roles associated with software training: facilitation of instructor-led certification training for both employees and customers, creation of training video tutorials and interactive courses and quizzes, production of training course ware (user guides and exercise materials), and administration of the company's LMS (Learning Management System). For almost two years in this position, I was the sole Learning Facilitator in the company, and during this time I drove projects with outside contractors, filling the gaps that were needed in training.
Training Manager
My role as Training Manager at Medfusion encompassed the same responsibilities as the Learning Facilitator role at Intuit Health. (Medfusion was acquired by Intuit Health in May 2010; at that time, my title changed but the role remained the same.)
Implementation Manager
As Implementation Manager at Medfusion, I ran 40+ client implementation projects at a given time, helping those customers learn, use and launch the company's software for their businesses (which were medical practices and doctors' offices). During this time, I also hosted regular training webinars and participated in cross-department meetings to stay on top of the product and its frequent enhancements.
