Responsible for coordinating and supporting EC’s Crews program, which is aservice-learning program for US and international 18-25-year-olds. This scope includes administering program workshops, retreats, events, and trainings as well as supporting+coaching over 30 program participants. Coordinated with Greenway Trust staff and agency partners to enhance the habitat and ecological function of sites throughout the Greenway Corridor--mainly through on the ground implementation of standard and emerging best management practices of restoration. Performing environmental restoration throughout the Puget Sound, prioritizing best management practices, efficiency, and quality.Restoration practices include, but not limited to: manual invasive plant removal, chemical invasive plant control, trail construction, stormwater infrastructure maintenance, planting native plants, erosion control, and volunteer.

The goal of this internship, with the allotted time, was to launch the beginnings of the Global Oak Red List Initiative. In six months, completed assessments of 54 oak species were contributed and published by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. Additional tasks included assisting Tree Conservation.

This student directed research project investigated the acoustic signature of four different urban landscapes, unique to Chicago. Additionally, our research team has incorporated an outreach component that highlights acoustic ecology’s interdisciplinary nature to engage with various fields of study.
