I directed a virtual team 19 FTEs that included • Technical Project Manager • 8 Regional Project Managers • 8 Business Liaison Managers • Application Test coordinator • Project AdministratorThe programmes primary objectives were to • Replace all Windows XP devices with Windows 7, Office 2010, IE8 and the latest SAP GUI o Allowing continued patch management and support o Enable future technologies, such as Drive Encryption, Virtual Desktop, enhanced GPO management • Design and implement new technologies to enable centralised device management o Design one “global standard image” for all 26,000 Colgate devices o Implement using Microsoft’s Operating System Deployment (OSD) tool,The Desktop Renewal Programme required significant architecture changes to Colgate’s global technology infrastructure and operating procedures and included multiple streams, phases and approaches, each offering its own challenges due to the scale and complexity of simplifying many differing local processes in to single “one size fits all” global standard solutions.Application testing and validation encompassed all Colgate critical applications and tools (including vendor software and applications). In addition, all SAP portal interfaces and web based applications were included in scope as the Internet Explorer web browser and SAP GUI versions were also being upgraded as part of the new “global image”.At the project closure, 397 devices remained on Windows XP, each with approved management exclusions and mitigation tracking plans in place. All new technologies & processes were documented and transitioned to global operations team.CIO Award Winner “Job Well Done!” for delivering Desktop Renewal Programme to scope & schedule
