EGGS Design is an independent innovation consultancy, helping clients craft new products, services and business transformations.

In collaboration with EGGS Design, I worked on several Service and UX Design projects within the energy, healthcare and security sectors in Norway.

As an independent consultant, I took on several service, UX and strategic design projects in the healthcare, education and construction sectors in both Denmark and Norway.

Following my thesis project, I continued my engagement with the Data for Good Foundation, developing illustrations and other visual communications to support and promote the mission of the organisation. This included the research and production of a white paper that set out a framework for how people will be able to request and activate their personal data.

I worked as part of a small team as a strategic consultant and visual communicator. I researched how ‘connected infrastructure’ might be able to self-diagnose and in order to predict deterioration and optimise maintenance of road and rail links.

During this internship, I took the opportunity to practice using a variety of user research methods with clients in the financial and health sectors. I gathered user insights by creating and introducing 'design games' to stimulate group discussions. I also used narrative storytelling techniques to lead new audiences into future realities and imagine how they might respond and adapt to emerging technologies.

I joined Black Pepper as a Test Consultant and started out testing a large-scale trade logistics system. As I began to work on smaller-scale, more agile projects, it was clear that my talent was in designing products. I therefore transitioned between roles including Business Analyst, Interface Designer, and User Experience Designer.Shifting my role enabled me to apply my user-centred design skills which, as the sole designer, was of high value for the company. Throughout my time designing at this company, I regularly engaged with clients to understand the vision for their products. I would often require me to facilitate discussions to clarify business requirements, and place a focus on the needs of the end-users of products and services.I used software tools such as Sketch, Balsamiq Mockups, and InVision to create and demonstrate user interface designs for small to medium-sized software projects. I used these tools, along with hand-drawn sketches, to present customers with a variety of design options. Taking this approach helped me to encourage customers to make decisions towards enhancing the experience of their users, which in turn helped develop more appealing products.

Working in this position, I tested a comprehensive web-based enterprise SaaS product used by Global 1000 organisations. I was involved in writing clear, concise test scripts using plain English to allow an outsourced overseas testing team to perform manual testing of the product. As well as this, I was also responsible for revising the 'user help manual', using clear language to teach users how to use new product features.

Following on from my degree in architecture, I took a position as a surveyor and travelled across the country performing detailed energy surveys on commercial buildings. I had the added responsibility of checking and validating the work of junior employees against original survey notes before then uploading the final assessment results to a government-held database. I also acted as a tutor by training new employees on how to use specialised 3D modelling software.
