Provided guidance and organization required for the training, development and employment of the Garrison Command Cell including Billeting, Safety, Environmental, Projects, Maintenance and Contracting. Continued planning and managed the closure of 400 acres on Camp Arifjan. Worked closely with ASG-KU Command Group and directorates to ensure all Camp Arifjan tasks and goals were met as quickly as possible. Kept garrison clean, functional and safe. Ensured tenant units have best quality of life available with all standards met. Coordinated internal and external assets amongst Garrison Command Cell. Reviewed and approved exceptions to policy requests for base access and force protection measures. Established a positive command relationship within subordinate elements. Directed, commanded and provided emphasis to ensure compliance with all Army Standards, regulations and policies. Managed facilities, inventory and maintenance procedures. Maintained control systems to prevent fraud, waste and abuse of Government resources. Developed performance measures, and counseled soldiers. Last three months of tour, assigned additional responsibility as Director of Installation Support. Assigned this position in addition to Garrison Commander. Provided oversight, coordination and support to installation services including Housing, Moral Welfare and Recreation, Education Center, Exchange and overall footprint of installation activities. These agencies included 17 soldiers, 16 DA civilians and dozens of contractors, to provide valuable services across all US Army Camps in Kuwait. Received Meritorious Service Medal.Leveraged public affairs skills to bring a local TV reporter from Harrisburg Pennsylvania to visit PA troops in Kuwait; the first reporter to visit US Troops in Kuwait since 2008 (according to 3rd Army Public Affairs). The visit resulted in a week of positive news stories, broadcasted and shared online for families and friends of 2,000 deployed Pennsylvania Soldiers.
