As a Medical Assistant I cared about peoples health and well being. I would take their vitals and get them set up for the physician. I would do any labs that needed to be done prior to the physician seeing the patient such as doing a fingerstick for the patients A1C if diabetic and also do a inhouse FLP when needed if patient was fasting. I would draw labs and urinalysis as well. I have removed sutures, assisted physician with minor surgeries, ran a variety of different inhouse test such as rapid strep, influenza, UPT, and even drug screens. I have fitted pateints for slings as well as gave injections such as Tetanus, PPD, Depo Provera as well as Rocephin. Even mixed the medication if needed.

I worked the night shift so I would do the morning rounds of patients that needs EKGs. I would attend code blues when called. I would do stat EKGs in the ER when called/needed. I also filed the patients EKGs in their charts both by abc order and numerical.
