I am a sophomore at Miami University's Farmer School of Business studying to earn my Bachelor's of Science in Business with a double major in Finance and Accounting. I'm a strong student with an immense appetite to learn and gain hands-on experience in the business world. My hard work doesn't just stop in the classroom, however, as I am involved with different student organizations in order to gain applicable experience in business. One of these organizations is RedHawk Ventures, which is an entirely student-run venture capital fund. I have learned much about venture capital, conducting due diligence, and investing in the entrepreneurs and startups that our organization works with. Furthermore, being a part of this organization has immensely strengthened my analytical and communication skills through real-world business interactions that I encounter as an analyst on the fund. On top of this, I am the treasurer of the Miami University Club Clay Shooting Team, which has been a great experience as I have been able to sharpen skills such as creating budgets, managing financial statements, and even conducting audits of the organization's finances. I also sit on the executive board of the team, and I am proud to be a part of the major changes that are being made to make the program a competitive team, and not just a club anymore.I also had the opportunity to be in the wealth management cohort of an organization called Tigers Incorporated. Here I got to experience every financial aspect of running a business from filing taxes to presenting its financial status to an overseeing board. Perhaps the crown jewel of the experience was the asset management side of it, particularly managing the Tiger Portfolio. The Tiger Portfolio was the first entirely student-run portfolio at the high school level, and I am pleased to be able to say that the Tiger Portfolio outperformed the market and even some professionally run funds during the period that I helped manage it.I look forward to continuing to grow and learn in the classroom, professional world, and in life. If you have any questions about myself, my experiences, or what attributes I can bring to your organization, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at watsonkf@miamioh.edu.
