For over 75 years, the Natural Resources Conservation League (NRCL) has been actively promoting the sustainable management of Victoria’s natural resources. A registered charity, the NRCL has its origins in the devastating 1939 bushfires in Victoria. The population served is ~170,000 people who receive a range of water, sewerage and recycled water services and supplies. Caretaker CFO for VCS Foundation Ltd., with key responsibilities of Finance, Governance, Risk Management and Strategy. Currently assisting this large not-for-profit health promotion charity's Board, Audit Committee and Executive Director in recruitment of the next Director Corporate Services - a role I previously held for almost 4 years.

The Australian Genome Research Facility Ltd (AGRF) is a not for profit company and Australia's largest provider of genomics services and solutions. It's Mission is to provide Australia with a world standard, research integrated, capability delivering genomic solutions to the biomedical, agriculture and environmental sectors to address key scientific questions for Australia.My key responsibilities in this newly created short term role are to assist AGRF in transitioning to a brand new corporate head office within the world class Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) building and provide caretaker Executive services in Finance, Risk Management, Corporate Services and Governance whilst AGRF searches for its next CFO.In addition to Melbourne, AGRF operates service nodes in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth and has Total Annual Revenues of ~$18M.

The Victorian Cytology Service (VCS) is a leader in reducing the impact of cancer and transmissible diseases through screening and vaccination. VCS is a large Not-For-Profit Health Promotions Charity with current activities including operation of the Victorian and South Australian Cervical Cancer Registries, the National HPV Register, Bowel Cancer Screening Participant Follow Up Program and VCS Pathology which includes laboratory services and screening for over half of the Victorian market for pap smears. VCS currently has annual revenue of $25M+ and employs around 170 staff. Key responsibilities for the Director Corporate Services include:- providing Executive leadership and direction to the Corporate Services division including Finance and HR. - providing input into development, implementation and execution of the VCS Strategic Plan- providing high level advice to the Board, Audit & Finance Committee and Executive Director on Corporate Performance, Governance, Risk Management and Strategy.

Western Water has approximately $80MN annual turnover and approximately $750MN of net assets.Led a team of 16 to drive Business Performance, Risk Management and Renewable Resources functions (including Recycled Water, Biosolids Reuse and Greenhouse Gas Reduction activities). Sponsored the Innovation Hub and Balanced Scorecard strategic performance reporting tool. Activities included Strategic Planning, Board reporting, Ideas management & Business development.Key outcomes include: implemented a new corporate risk framework; developed five-year water plans; successfully negotiated enterprise agreements; attracted $10MN in external grant funding; successfully lobbied for change to the industry pricing framework on New Customer Contributions; and developed and implemented a new ideas management software tool with significant business benefits.

As CFO, led a team of 11 across Finance, Regulation, Company Secretary and Renewable Resources functions, and sponsored the Balanced Scorecard strategic performance reporting tool. Activities included Annual Reports, Corporate Plans, Budgeting, Enterprise Bargaining negotiations, Business Planning, Pricing, Investments, Audit Committee, FOI, etc. Acted as the key stakeholder liaison for the Essential Services Commission, the Department of Treasury and Finance, Treasury Corporation of Victoria, Department of Sustainability and Environment, and Institute of Water Administration.Key outcomes include: received gold medals for Annual Reports each year from the Australian Annual Reporting Awards as exemplars in public information disclosure; achieved Top 5 industry status by comparison following realignment of the balanced scorecard with the business strategy; through my leadership, Western Water was recognised as one of Australia's leading water recycler's annually; developed and implemented the Board approved Climate Change strategy which achieved a 50% reduction in net emissions; and successfully led the lobbying of the ESC with VWIA on behalf of the Victorian Water Industry to negotiate a higher NCC charge, including a new NCC for recycled water services.

Successfully established this new business function after identifying a business development opportunity to use alternative water supplies and having developed and presented a business case for Board approval. Activities included marketing, communication, education, investment attraction, grant funding, pricing, business planning, economic analysis, regulatory liaison and research.Key outcomes include: as a result of the successful recycled water business function implementation and a new organisation wide "Customer First Focus", Western Water was named Public Sector Organisation of the Year in Victoria in 2003, and in Australia in 2004 by CPA Australia; won numerous Local, State and National awards for Innovation and Leadership in water recycling; invited to Chair a State Government water recycling 'Learning by Doing' Group; achieved a record 88% water recycled in 04/05 (100% in February 2004); and saved 2MN litres of drinking water annually, saving $3MN annually on bulk water purchase costs.

Various Finance roles during this period whilst also completing my Bachelor of Business Degree, and subsequent roles after graduating, (and after extensive overseas travels) including roles with BHP Gold Mines.
