I once heard that long-term loneliness has major health consequences and that loneliness is on the rise in Denmark - also among young people. I thought it was sad reading. That's why I decided to become a volunteer at Ventilen Fortæller, where I gave presentations about loneliness and how we can prevent and alleviate loneliness together.

As a student assistant in the research unit, I worked on various administrative tasks that supported research in psychiatry. Through this experience, I gained insight into the types of therapy available for individuals with mental disorders, the length and complexity of treatment courses, the instruments used to measure the severity of different mental disorders, and, most importantly, the realization that individuals with mental disorders are much like you and me.

I've always enjoyed going to school and I could easily have continued for many more years. Unfortunately, not everyone feels that way about school, so I wanted to contribute to helping children in a disadvantaged neighborhood do their homework and do it in a way that would make them think that learning could actually be fun and exciting.

When I moved to Copenhagen to study, I found work as a sales assistant in “Inspiration”. I knew the products on the shelves well, but the customer segment was different from what I knew from Odense. As a result, I improved my Swedish language skills and experienced geographical differences in purchasing power.

After a 9th grade internship in Magasin's home department, I was allowed to continue as a gift wrapper and then sales assistant. Here I spent every Saturday wrapping gifts, guiding customers and selling Danish design produced elsewhere. Meanwhile, I was dreaming about which plates and crystal glasses I would buy when I left home.
