As a US Permitting and Compliance Focal Point, I work to ensure all regulated research trials have the correct Agency approvals and all shipments of plant materials are conducted within guidelines of the Agencies.

I conducted plant transformation experiments with corn, cotton and tobacco. I worked with several different technologies for transformation and improved technology enhancements. I was a safety focal point for 2-3 years and managed the plant media preparation lab for 2 years.

I worked with EPS to learn their transformation and computer tracking application. I assited in setting up a similar tracking system for Dow AgroSciences in Indianapolis.

This was my first introduction to working in an industrial lab. I worked in the Natural Products group, where we received cultures from various collaborations. These cultures (fungal and microbial) were grown and maintained in our lab and tested for activity in various backgrounds. I prepared culture media, assisted in plating and maintaining cultures, and ran a few assays.
