As an Au Pair in Spain, I looked after two children (a two year old boy and a nine month old girl).My main responsibilities within this role included:- Creating new and exciting educational Montessori-style games and tasks for the children that are age and ability appropriate for both.- Maintaining a clean and safe environment around the home for the children to continue to grow and develop independently.- Continuous co-operation with the parents and other childcare providers in their day-to-day life.This was my first experience in childcare and my first experience of full Spanish language immersion. The role required a great deal of adaptability, flexibility and reliability and it has massively improved my ability to communicate around language barriers both between adults and children.

The role required me to be quick and efficient when it comes to handling customers’ requests, while multitasking. Team work is a core value of both the store I worked in and the company itself in order to ensure that customers receive a first class service every time. I enjoy building a feeling of personalised service with each customer through friendly conversation, while remaining professional and maintaining a clean working environment.

While participating in the international branch of Disney’s College Program (the Cultural Exchange Program) I was placed in the Boardwalk Resort in a merchandising role. The main responsibilities of this role included operating a point-of-sale system (POS register), cash handling, stocking, inventory, maintaining visual displays and the demonstration of the outstanding customer service/company knowledge in a professional manner while multi-tasking. Being in a guest-facing position and a program focussed around cultural exchange I had to exercise great interpersonal skill to upkeep Disney’s exceptional standards while engaging with people from all around the world in often stressful situations. I received service recognition awards several times from both cast members and guests for outstanding service.
